Mothers of AfricaPosted: December 16, 2014
Our task for the last 2 weeks of term, was to create two patchwork pieces for a mothers of Africa blanket. Once the blankets have been made, they will hopefully raise a good amount of money for maternity facilities in rural African areas. To make the patches we needed to combine a variety of skills, that we have learnt and improved on throughout our different workshop sessions this year so far. Using a range of techniques from hot water dyes and batik to create our backgrounds ready to the stitch over in our final session. Below are a few images of my two final pieces along with a page of my African pattern research that has really inspired my work.
