Rajasthan Trip – Week 2Posted: November 20, 2015
Day 8, After spending the day travelling by train from Jaipur to Udaipur arriving late afternoon, we had a little wonder around the area of the hotel, before having an early night ready for our full day today. Our first stop for the day was the Jagdish Temple, a iconic point in the historic part of Udaipur. The architecture is just breathtaking and is very detailed with no bare parts. We even got the chance to go inside and see the people singing, which was a great experience.
We then had the short walk up the hill to Udaipur City Palace, which was just so busy. The palace was so impressive and is the 2nd largest palace in India. I enjoyed it a bit more than the in Jaipur, as was we were able to look around a lot more of it. We began with Sheikh our tour guide giving us a brief history about the Palace before we were then given to chance to explore the rest. I found the place very inspiration and great to sketch/ photograph. Below are a selection of my favourite photos.
Our 3rd spot for the day was a boat trip on manmade Pichola Lake to get a good view of the city along with the vast palace. We even got to quickly stop off at Jag Mandir island which was very impressive.
Our last stop just before sunset was to the Saheliyon-ki-Bari, which means Courtyard of the Maidens. It is a popular garden in the city for tourists and local.
