Professional Practise Talk – Richard Weston

Richard Weston – Digital Arts & Crafts from Minerals to Apps

Today I attended my first of hopefully many Textiles Professional Practise Talks, ran for the 3rd years. Richard Weston was a really interesting man, who is a retired Architecture Lecturer who became really interested in looking at natural minerals through microscopes. His passion for finding interesting colour combinations and patterns let to him getting the opportunity to create a collection of scarfs, which were sold at Liberty of London. The images that he found were just fascinating and just show that patterns can be creating from anything around you. His determination and passion of researching into minerals is just great and very inspiring. I am really looking forward to the different professional practise sessions to come over the next term and then onto next year.
