First Campus – College Textiles Workshop

After undergoing my training last year to become a student workshop deliverer, today I delivered my first workshop collaboratively to Level 2 art & design college students with another CSAD textile student. I have really enjoyed the process of planning the introduction to textiles workshop, as it’s been great to reflect back on what processes I have enjoyed during my degree and to share them with students who haven’t had to chance to use these techniques yet. The workshop was 3 hours long, so we planned a short presentation about CSAD and ourselves and our current degree show project to give them a taste of what we do on the course and what they could be doing if they choose to study textiles further. We then split the time into 2 sections with the first focusing on creating repeat patterns and screen printing and the second on hand sewing smocking techniques. The students seemed to really enjoy the workshop and the processes we chose.
